This little soprano ukulele puts out a lot of sound. Hence it's name, Leokani, or resonating sound (voice). It's top, back and sides are made of a tropical African wood called Sapele. The neck is made from Mahogany and the bridge, binding and nut are made from synthetic material that resembles "bone". Along with the matte finish, this little one gives you the "old time feel" using modern and durable goods. High Gloss Shine!
About Our Ukes
Our daKine 'Ukulele are crafted using unique and standard blends of wood, topped with years of knowledge and creativity, served on a plate of lots of fun and smothered in Aloha!
Each one of our designs, besides being attractive, nice, quality ukulele also have a "bowed". The reason for this, is to allow the sound to resonate at a slightly deeper tone. Traditionally the smallest of ukulele (Soprano) has the "Tiny Tim" sound. By design, we have engineered this into a deeper, more pleasing sound, that easily fits into adults with small hands or children. This designed is carried into all of our ukulele. We also have pegged our ukulele so it will comfortably sport a guitar type strap (see ukulele straps) providing a level of comfort and safety (you don't want to drop your uke!) .Lastly, ALL of our ukulele come with a padded soft case with an outside zipper pocket for your "stuff". We believe ALL ukulele should come with a bag to cuddle your daKIne! With care and Aloha, your daKine can last for generations to come.
This is the menehune of all ukulele, the little one that packs a punch. Not only is it a soprano, in length, but it is a "thin" body as well (making it appear to be smaller than a traditional soprano. Great for small hands and travels easily due to the reduced size. The entire body has been lacquered black, Po, or dark night. "Ele" is music or sound. Po ele, the voice of the night. Underneath the cosmetics of lacquer, back and sides are Sapele and the top is spruce. The embellishments are beautiful mother of pearl inlay and a slotted head with greared tunning pegs.
This concert size ukulele is extremely down to earth like it's namesake, Lehua, our #3 daughter. The Lehua blossom is borne of the Ohi'a tree, which is the first plant life to grow after a lava flow. The back and sides are African Sapele, and the top is Spruce. The neck is Mahogany with a Rosewood bridge. It has a 'wave' shaped and the shaka sign burned into the body.
This is a concert, thin body ukulele. It is long and lean and really puts out a nice full body sound. This uke is named after our #2 daughter. It's back, sides and top are made from wood of the Koa Ohana, known for it's beautiful grain and varied color. The Neck is Mahogany and the bridge is Rosewood. Matte finish.
There is only one word to describe this ukulele, exquisite! The beauty lies in the wood. The Ash wood is cut in a precise way to give it a "quilted" effect, .The beautiful burled lines require twice as much wood as most ukulele. Top, back and sides are "Quilted Ash." The neck is made of Mahogany and the bridge is walnut. The embellishments are specialty wood and abalone. This uke is named after our #1 son, Mahina, or moon. The high gloss shine could be the moom shining it's light. High Gloss finish.
This ukulele is prized for its Koa wood and the beauty of the grain patterns under a high gloss of protective coating. This 4 stringed concert sized thing. Named after our #2 son, this uke is durable, beautiful and dark brown, like it's namesake. Even though the back, sides and top are made of Koa, the neck is Mahogany and the bridge is Walnut. It has a beautiful slotted head with embellishments of abalone and mother of pearl. A hIgh gloss shine complete this ukulele!
This tenor size ukulele is down to earth like it's sister Lehua. . The body is a bit larger, but more importantly, for those who have big hands or fat fingers, the fret board has ample space for you. The back and sides are African Sapele, and the top is Spruce. The neck is Mahogany with a Rosewood bridge. It has a 'wave' shaped and the shaka sign burned into the body. The entire ukulele is a matte finish. It's a great uke for guitar players due to it's larger size. The name Pala la means deep resonating or rumbling sound.
This ukulele sports a rock and roll feel with itʻs "Fender" style head. The top is spruce with Rosewood back and sides. The Neck is mahogany with a redwood bridge. The nut/saddle are ox bone. The nice easy soft cuttaway is highlighted by the matte finish.
Ku is short for Kulana, our #2 daughter, meaning 'Stately and Proud'. The is tenor is understated with elegance and class. The body body is proudly made of Maple along with the back ans sides. The neck is Mahogany with a Rosewood neck. The head is a cut out U shape designed, and the body has a sharp cutaway, with a high gloss finish.
